After securing an 83% ‘Yes vote’ in favour of strike action in our indicative e-ballot at Hallam UCU, we now move to a formal ballot for strike action.

The ballot runs from Monday 15th April until Wednesday 22nd May. It’s a postal ballot, so UCU SHU members keep your eye on the post for your ballot paper and return it asap. The last safe posting date is Friday 17th May.

Our branch demands:

  1. Zero compulsory redundancies
  2. No to further degradation of teaching standards due to loss of staff, new teaching delivery models & ongoing curriculum redesign
  3. The University honour the national and local agreements which preclude the introduction of Grade 6 teaching posts and line management responsibilities for Grade 8

These issues affect all members, so we ask you to VOTE YES IN OUR BALLOT FOR LOCAL STRIKE ACTION.

This provides us with the strongest possible negotiating position in the fight to defend jobs and working conditions.

Please update your membership details so that the ballot reaches you.
